Who We Help

Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre:

The Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre is located near the little town of Rojales in the province of Alicante, along Spain’s Mediterranean coastline.

They care for more than 90 horses, ponies and donkeys saved from abuse and neglect, plus a menagerie of other rescued animals, including dogs, cats, parrots, chickens, geese, Ernie the turkey and Isadora the pig.

Their mission is to rescue and rehabilitate abused, neglected and abandoned horses, ponies and donkeys, while campaigning for the better treatment of animals across Spain. They are a no-kill foundation and provide each rescued animal with a safe and loving sanctuary – either at their centre or via rehoming – for the rest of their lives.

Thermal Sleeping Bag Project:

We aim to raise enough money, before next winter sets in, to be able to buy as many mountain all-weather sleeping bags for the 2900 people who sleep on rough on the streets of Benidorm and Alicante city.

These are men, women, children and families who for some reason or other have ended up in the dangerous and risky situation of being homeless with nowhere other than the streets, abandoned buildings or the park bench to sleep at night with the cold Spanish winter nights for company.

We can’t possibly claim to cure the problems these poor people have, however, we will endeavor to play our part and at least try to ensure that they are dry and warm wherever they find a place to rest and sleep at night.

At present we are negotiating with the Decathlon sports store in Alicante on a discounted price if we bulk buy their all-weather thermal mountain sleeping bags.

Alicante Dog Protector Project:

The Alicante dog protector home is a charity which takes in and lovingly looks after stray, abandoned and abused dogs and relies totally on donations to continue the great work they do.

To make life at the home more enjoyable for these abandoned and abused dogs,  Eco-vida would like to be able to raise sufficient funds to convert a plot of wasteland, that the home has, into a lush green shaded area where the dogs can spend time outside playing and sleeping under their favorite tree.

This would involve the work of a landscape company to install an automatic watering system, heat tolerant grass and large shady trees.  We would also like to be able to cover the monthly upkeep of this large area including the costs of the water bills and maintenance. In the future we hope to be able to afford to pay the wage of a full time Eco-vida employee, an animal lover whose sole purpose would be to play with the dogs every day and give them the love and attention that they so much deserve.

This project could be combined in the future to be used as a dog therapy area where families can bring handicapped and troubled children or adults who would benefit from simply being around the dogs, playing with them and helping to look after them.

This proven method of therapy has been successfully used for many years now in penitentiary
systems in various countries around the world.
